Who can see member information

The membership list, other members' records and individual ratings, and some member-only features are open only to verified GNZ members, club administrators and GNZ staff. This page explains exactly who qualifies, and what to do if the site tells you that you don't.

Becoming a verified GNZ member

You're a verified GNZ member when all three of these are true:

1. Your account is linked to your membership record. Your account page shows your GNZ number as associated with your membership record. User accounts vs membership records explains how that link is made.
2. Your GNZ membership is active. Your GNZ membership type is anything other than Resigned.
3. You belong to at least one club. At least one of your club memberships is current, meaning your club hasn't marked it resigned.

Your account page shows the result under Verified GNZ Member.

What counts as resigned

Only two things decide it: your GNZ membership type, and whether your club memberships are marked resigned.

An older club membership has an end date that has passed, but was never marked resigned	Yes: end dates are ignored

A club resignation takes effect as soon as your club records it, even if they enter a leaving date in the future.

Who sees which member details

Editors of a record are the member themselves, administrators of any club the member belongs to or has belonged to, the Awards Officer, and GNZ administrators.

Roles

Roles are granted to a person's account separately from their membership, and don't depend on it: clubs and umbrella organisations have officers who aren't GNZ members, or whose membership sits elsewhere. GNZ administrators review who holds each role regularly.

• Club administrators see member information and administer their own club's members. One who isn't a verified member themselves sees other clubs' members without contact details or emergency contacts.
• Membership Viewers (for example the GNZ office) see member information across every club, including emergency contacts, but can't edit.
• The Awards Officer can browse and edit member records to manage awards.
• GNZ administrators can see and edit everything.

If you've resigned

On this website you can still sign in and see your own membership record and ratings, and edit your own details. Everything reserved for verified members is closed to you until you're a verified member again, including the membership list, other members' records and individual ratings, emailing members, other entrants' contact details on event entries, editing aircraft, a coach's editing of other members' achievements, and registering flights from the launch app.

If you think you've been refused by mistake

• Your account page says Not associated with a membership record. Follow User accounts vs membership records to link your GNZ number.
• You still belong to a club, but it shows you as resigned. Ask your club administrator to check your club membership.
• Your GNZ membership type is wrong. Email membership@gliding.co.nz with your name and GNZ number.
